Mike Hirby is most definitely a rsing star amoung Napa Valley winemakers and continues to improve his abilities with each year of expereince and each new endeavor that he undertakes. I cannot strees this enough, watch this guy if you haven’t been doing so already!
Mike learned his way around the cellar at Behrens & Hitchcock Winery for several years, before being hired as the Winemaker for Realm Cellars in 2002. In addition to Relic, he also has winemaking projects at D.R. Stephens Estate, Husic Family Vineyards, Sarocka Estate, and Winter Wines. If Mike is not in the vineyard or winery, you may find him engaged in one of his other passions – cooking or playing guitar.

‘One sip of [Relic Old Vines Petite Sirah] will give you a new appreciation for Petite. It hardly fits the grape’s reputation for being chewy, hearty or rustic, with a texture more akin to a smooth Merlot or Pinot Noir. Relic’s 2009 Ritual Napa Valley (94, $48) is another Rhône-style blend that shouldn’t be missed.’
